Test Preparation: ACT®

Our approach

Our one-one-one test prep program is the most methodical and effective way to achieve the test scores you desire. You will be assigned two academic consultants, a verbal consultant and a math consultant, each consultant is specialized in area an expertise. Our ACT test prep program begins with a diagnostic test that will help determine your strengths and weaknesses. Your consultants will work with you to design a unique program that fits your needs. The length of the course depends on a variety of variables. The program includes the Cram Crew Cram Manual Study Guide, which contains the course material the academic consultant will cover in sessions; including practice assignments, test strategies and skills development lessons. In addition, unlike any other test prep program we use actual retired ACT tests as a tool to help you prepare for test day.

A brief overview of the ACT

The ACT is a curriculum based admissions test accepted by most colleges and universities. The ACT test is composed of 4 subjects: English, Math, Reading and Science and an optional Writing test. The ACT is two hours and 55 minutes with a 25 minute optional Writing test. Each section is graded individually with a total possible score of 36 points. The four scores are averaged to produce a composite score on a scale of 1 to 36. Students are not penalized for incorrect answers. Hence, guessing is highly encouraged as it will not hurt your test score. The Writing test (optional) is scored on a scale of 2 and 12. For a number of students, taking the both the ACT and SAT is a great option because they can choose which test is better of the two scores, which then increases the options of colleges and college admissions.

The ACT consists of the following:

SECTION CONTENTQUESTION # TIME ALLOTTED
English written and rhetorical English 45 total 75 minutes
Mathematics Mathematics (up to 12th grade level) 60 total 60 minutes
Reading reading comprehension 40 total 35 minutes
Science examination, evaluation, analytic skills 35 total 40 minutes
Writing (optional) essay 1 prompt 30 minutes
